Prevented Planting Cover Crop Cost Share Program 2015

Did your fields look like this with all the rain we received this year?

The St. Joseph County Soil and Water Conservation District wants to get 200 acres of cover crops on prevented planting acres this season!

The St. Joseph County Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a cover crop cost share program for prevented planting acres. Excessive rainfall this growing season has led to numerous acres of production ground that has either drowned out or has not been able to be planted at all. The St. Joseph County SWCD would like to help you keep the soil biology alive, reduce erosion, and keep nutrients in the soil where it belongs. This is an opportunity to try cover crops for the first time and/or get some financial assistance to apply them to acres that have been overly wet. You can receive $25 an acre to apply a cover crop to prevented planting acres.

Contact the office for your application (574) 936-2024 ext. 4 or e-mail us at info@stjosephswcd.org.

Cover Crop application deadline is August 7, 2015.

Prevented Planting acres must be located within St. Joseph County, IN. If you are not a producer or are a producer outside St. Joseph County, please share this with someone who could benefit from our cost share program.
